Success

We all have different gifts in life. Some of us are more athletic, some of us are more intelligent, some of us are more intuitive, I’m sure you get where I’m going with this. I am blessed and thankful to be able to do what I do and that is teaching. I get to teach people and horses that are at different levels of understanding, have different levels of ability and I enjoy working with all of them. I’ve been teaching people and horses professionally for 26 years now and there’s one thing that separates some from others and that is desire. I heard once that there are 3 requirements in order to be successful. The claim was you need -ability, -opportunity and -desire. I’ve studied this theory for years and I just don’t agree with it. The reason I don’t agree with it is because I’ve seen people with lots of ability and opportunities get very little done. The people and horse that I’ve seen succeed time and time again are the ones with the desire. People with desire/ hunger will create their opportunities and they’re also willing to work hard to improve their abilities. Where I see desire in horses is in engagement. Some horses have more of a desire to engage and understand what’s going on. If you engage with them correctly, they’ll lock in and the sky’s the limit as far as what can be achieved. So that brings us to you, what is your desire in life? What accomplishment do you hunger for? I believe that God gives all of us desires but sometimes they are squashed by other well intending people that are afraid to fail or see others fail. Failure is painful but without it we can’t really succeed. So don’t be afraid to go after what you heart desires, after all God gave it to you and that’s probably where your greatest success in life will happen.
